The Simon Estes Music High School Building Project

Our School was established in 1997 and achieved a positive Learning enviroment for creative and musically talented poor, socially and Economically disadvantaged learners. We have grown from 60 to nearly 400 learners, all from areas such as: Khayelistha, Hanover Park, Guguletu and Mitchell's Plain. This is a Phenomenal growth rate and the resultant problem that we face currently, is that we are unable to accommodate our learners in our current venue. The lackof space has disadvantages such as:

• We are unable to expand our education, music and drama programme.

• Each year we have to turn away enthusiastic and talented young learners.

The obovementioned has a convern for the school's governing body for the past year and we have tried to resolve this issue through various means, by erecting three additional prefabricated classrooms two years ago, but even this has been inadequate in accommodating the influx  of learners to the school. We have realized that the only solution to our problem would be, to move our school to an environment that can provide us with a bigger builing consisting of more classrooms. Sadly, we are finding it difficult to find suitable venues, due to the lack of vacant schools or government buildings.

We resently consuted with the Provincial Government regarding the above mentioned. They mentioned a possibility of available property (vacant land) that will be a suitable prospect. Architects and Development Planners (ACG) donated their services and provided us with an estimated contruction cost. (Apex 1)

The only obstacle in achieving our objectives is funding.
